6 alternatives to the excruciatingly generic "I hope my email finds you well."

Or the popular alternative, "I trust my email finds you well."

I wonder if there's anything more overused than this statement in emails.

When I read it, I don't believe that the person actually cares to hope that for me.

We need new ways to fill in that awkwardness at the beginning of an email.

Here are a few alternatives…

  1. Nothing. How about dispensing with the niceties and just getting straight to the point?Maybe, "I'm emailing you because…" or "Checking in to see if…."

  2. Happy Monday (or any day of the week).

  3. I hope you're keeping healthy. Ok, maybe this one is close to "I hope my email finds you well," but still.

  4. How are things in your world?

  5. Glad to know you're still alive. :P

  6. If you really must use "I hope you're doing well, "add an extension to it like "…and having an incredible start to the new year."

The most important part is to remember why you're writing the email and what action you need from it.

When you're clear on these, the polite words flow…like sugar. ;)
